I'm not advocating one over the other as I've used both Data Color and X-Rite. Many people will swear by X-Rite over Data Color, but it's mainly opinion and popularity where X-Rite has the bigger share of the market, just as Photoshop does in the photo editing world. That said, either Data Color (Spyder) or X-Rite are also good at calibrating a monitor, it just comes down to feature and likes. In my opinion, the Spyder5 Express works good using the recommended software but works fantastic using Displa圜al and Argyll software. Datacolors fastest and most accurate monitor calibrator to date. Save some cash and get better results by getting the express version and using displaycal. The SpyderX Elite costs about the same as the Calibrite products, but are much less widely supported and simply dont have the reputation and reliability record of the X-Rite/Calibrite products. You may also set 'Gamma' (video LUT) to 'As measured' because it does not affect colorimetric application. You may skip the calibration even if it is suggested, it wont result in less accurate profile. Ob Express, Pro oder Elite, es ist immer das gleiche Sensor dabei nur die Software ändert sich wohl. I don't use the X-Rite software, nor do have it installed because the SpectraView software is specifically designed for NEC's professional monitors where it directly talks to the monitors built-in LUT table, whereas X-Rite's software only talks to the video card. And while I do have the X-Rite i1DisplayPro system, I just use the puck with NEC's SpectraView software. SpyderUtility: Now displays a notification when it’s first launched, which also tells you if the Spyder5 is connected or not. Well I can't answer your question because I use a different method.
